Significance of freshwater fisheries to global food security.

A recently published investigation in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences joins freshwater fisheries the board to both food security and biodiversity protection. The paper-distributed by Pete McIntyre and Catherine Reidy Liermann of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Carmen Revenga of The Nature Conservancy-finds that fish give what might be compared to the creature protein eaten by 158 million people.
