Mustafa Turhan Sahin, Celal Bayar University, Turkey
Abstract:
Onychoscopy is the synonym of nail apparatus dermoscopy. Nail unit can be examined by using a dermoscope. Nail disorders, most commonly pigmented lesions of the nails can be easily diagnosed by the help of a dermoscope. In diagnosing many conditions of nails reliably, simple visual inspection may not be sufficient. Besides, a nail biopsy may not give a definitive answer, but on the other hand onychoscopy is a valuable aid not only in enhancing visible nail features, but also in revealing hidden features with diagnostic value. This presentation aims to summarize the current level of knowledge about onychoscopic features of various diseases of the nail unit.
